Family Shield Ministries will work with you to help meet your needs for a speaker at a rally, convention, Bible study, worship service, school, college/university or at a workshop/seminar.
A variety of formats are available from a single presentation to a multi-day series of workshops.

Kay L. Meyer is the founder and president of Family Shield Ministries. She has over 25 years of experience in evangelism, education, and family ministry. Meyer is a frequent consultant, speaker and author on family life, spiritual growth, apologetics, and learning to witness. Samples publications include: Witnessing—A Lifestyle (FSM, 2008); Family Ministry Basics (CPH, 2006); Mission Field on Our Doorstep: Jehovah’s Witnesses (Family Shield, 2004); Teaching Your Children Christian Values (CPH, 1996); Life in the Sandwich Generation (CPH, 1995); and contributions to Portals of Prayer, Teacher’s Interaction, Concordia Pulpit Resources, and My Devotions. Meyer has also written The Great Commission for the St. Louis Metro Voice newspaper since 1994. The column helps Christians learn to share their faith in their daily life. Meyer has a Master of Arts Degree in Media Communication from Webster University, St. Louis and, a Bachelor of Science in Education. She and her husband, Tjaden (Chad), have been married over 40 years, have three grown children, three grandchildren, and are members of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, Missouri.
- Airfare/Mileage: Actual airfare and/or current standard IRS mileage rate to airport or event.
- Lodging: Quiet non-smoking hotel room.
- Honorarium: Although Kay Meyer is the founder and president of Family Shield Ministries she receives a portion of her salary from speaking engagements. Therefore, the organization asks that sponsoring groups provide an honorarium. Honorariums depend upon the time, event, number of days, and location. They begin at $200 for presentations that are outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
- Meals: $30 per day unless other arrangements are made.
- Other: A lectern will be needed. Normally also a flipchart and markers. And a table for the exhibit and resources.
Speakers Bureau—Rev. Mark Hawkinson
Rev. Mark A. Hawkinson is a graduate of Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Concordia University, St. Paul Minnesota, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in education and music in 1971. He then attended Concordia Theological Seminary, in Springfield, Illinois, receiving his M. Div degree in May of 1975. Rev. Hawkinson has served parishes in the Mid-South, Missouri, and Southern Illinois Districts of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. He has had experience as a Mission Developer, starting three new missions, two in Southern Illinois, and one in Tennessee. He successfully completed the course of study for the Church Planter’s Institute at Concordia University, Irvine, California, in 1997. He has served on various boards, while in the parish ministry, including the Mid-South District Board of Stewardship, and the Mid-South Board of Social Ministry. He also served the Missouri District through is association with the Board of Missions, as they planned new mission starts in the District. In addition, he has written children’s messages for the publication “Pulpit Helps.”Rev. Hawkinson has also served KFUO AM Radio for 20 years in various full-time, and part-time capacities. He currently serves the station as the host of Moments of Assurance, a mid-day, weekday, hour long program on inspirational talk and music. He also hosts “Jubilation” on Sunday afternoons, and is a monthly guest on the Bible study call-in program with host Chuck Rathert.
As a guest preacher, he especially enjoys singing, and doing children’s messages during the services.
Rev. Hawkinson and his wife, Lana, have two grown children, and one grandchild.
Speakers Bureau – Susan Fuessel
Susan (Sue) G. Fuessel is a graduate of Concordia (Jr.) College, Ann Arbor, Michigan (AA) and a 1970 graduate of Concordia University Chicago (BA in ed). Sue is a Commissioned Teacher with the LCMS having taught elementary grades for 37 years, mostly in Lutheran Schools. She taught 1 year at Trinity Lutheran School, Springfield, IL as an intern before graduating. She has also taught for 1 year in Headstart and for 3 years in public schools. Most of her teaching years have been at Trinity Lutheran School, San Angelo, TX. With first grade. Because both of her sons are dyslexic, Fuessel has also trained as an Academic Language Therapist by Ed-Mar and Associates of Dallas, TX. to work with dyslexic children. Sue’s current teaching assignment is that of Phonics specialist at Trinity, San Angelo, TX. In addition she also teaches music classes, technology classes, and directs the school handbell choir. Fuessel has been named to Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and to Cambridge Who’s Who.
Because Mormonism has affected her life and the life of her family Sue has a heart for reaching out to those in Mormonism and families affected by Mormonism. Fuessel volunteers for Truth in Love Ministry (TILM – WELS) with their prayer ministry and as an email evangelist. Fuessel is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, San Angelo, TX. She is widowed and has 6 children, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-granddaughters.
